A Fun-Filled, Jam-Packed January!

We’ve had a very busy January welcoming lots of new faces to our outdoor settings. We’ve enjoyed experiencing the different types of weather that January brought and had fun exploring the ice and temperatures. We even had icicles in our river…

We had fun with art, mixing paints and gathering leaves for natural art creations.

We also celebrated a birthday making our own cake in our Dutch oven.

And today we celebrated the tradition of making crosses out of rushes for St. Brigid’s Day. What a busy, fun-filled and adventurous month that was! Looking forward to seeing what fun Spring brings….

Hallowe’en Mid-Term Break Camp

Hold onto your broomsticks…Ray Outdoor School has some ‘spooktacular’ treats in store! Due to popular demand, our Hallowe’en Mid-Term Break Camp will run from Tuesday 31st October – Friday 3rd November. We’ve got lots of fun and games planned which includes creepy crafts, building a witches’ den, scary spiders and webs made from natural materials, cooking our Hallowe’en haystacks on our forest fire and lots more.

To finish the week of fun, we’ve got our Hallowe’en finale! Keep your eyes peeled for witches and other spooky creatures and catch our special annual Hallowe’en showdown in the forest on Friday 3rd November from 6 – 8pm. There will be storytelling, fun traditional games and some delicious pumpkin soup made from our very own forest fire.

International Literacy Day

The 8th of September marked International Literacy Day and the children at Glen Outdoor School had a great day marking the special event. The children really enjoyed sharing their favourite stories with their friends and we had great fun in our teepee. Here’s some pics from the day…

 

Busy First Week at Ray Outdoor School

It was a busy first week at Ray Outdoor School, Rathmullan. On their first day back the children were busy making mud paintings and leaf puzzles in the forest and they had great fun exploring the outdoor setting.

Naíonra Now Available at Glen Outdoor School

We are delighted to let you know that Glen Outdoor School, Barrack is now taking bookings for Naíonra. Park Outdoor School, Letterkenny, started Naíonra in 2015 and it has been a major success.

Studies have shown that there are added benefits to the development of children including linguistic, cognitive, academic, literacy and self-esteem to name a few.

National Pyjama Day 2017

We had a great day supporting this year’s National Pyjama Day. Run by Early Childhood Ireland, it’s a great opportunity to support some amazing charities and this year all funds will go towards three children’s charities, each supporting children under 6 years of age with additional needs. Welcome 2017!

We’re settling into 2017 really well and enjoying getting back into the swing of things. Welcome back to all the Early Learning Schools’ children in Glen, Letterkenny and Ray and a big welcome to all the new children who have just started their ECCE place.

It’s an exciting time for children and parents and we’re looking forward to helping them create some very special memories.

We’ve lots of exciting learning planned for this term as well as plenty of games, art and crafts and outdoor fun.
